    In the event that this was not covered on QRZ. If so, my apologies.

    The S/Y Nirvana Now yacht sank in heavy seas in the Pacific. The Pacific Seafarers Net on 14300 KHz assisted in the rescue of the crew of the S/Y Nirvana Now. Kudos the hams on 14300 KHz.

    Excellent job Fred! Had it not been for your operating skills and likely superior equipment, this may not have had a happy ending. This also stands to reason why adequate equipment for NCS on 14.300 is required to be effective in such emergencies and such. There's no way a station with a mere tiny vertical antenna could have had the kind of communication success that directional/gain antenna's provide.
