    Walter E. Ballard Sr.
    October 13, 1935 - April 15, 2015
    Obituary

    Walter E. Ballard, Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
    Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Robert E. Webb and Pastor Jimmy Woods will officiate.
    Visitation with a reception will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the residence of Wendy and Kenny Laidler. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to Central Georgia Cancer Center, 114 Sutherlin Drive, Suite C-1, Warner Robins, GA 31088.


    Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Harper Ballard, his brother, Bobby Joe Ballard and by his parents, Joe Brown Ballard and Hallie Lavenia Arnold Ballard. He was born in Henderson and lived in this area his entire life.
    Mr. Ballard was co-owner of Ballard Brothers Electric and Ice Company for forty-five years and enjoyed being a Ham Radio Club member.
    He was an avid NASCAR fan and for many years was a well-known race car driver in Middle Georgia and the surrounding area.
    Mr. Ballard was a member of Calvary Community Church and first of all, was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

    Survivors include his devoted family, his daughters, Beverly (Rusty) Ray of Fort Valley, Theresa (Frankie) Roberts of Roberta and Wendy (Kenny) Laidler of Macon; his son, Walter "Bubba" Ballard, Jr. of Fort Valley; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Patsy) Ballard and Raymond (Annette) Ballard; his sister, Annette Ragan and a number of nieces and nephews.
