Although a bit late, I would like to remember the man who introduced many, both young and old, to the marvelous world of Ham Radio.
"Don Mario" ,as he was called by his colleagues, was one of the founding members of the Radio Club of Puerto Padre and it was through him that DXers like CO8DM and CO8DC came to be in touch with amaterur radio. He was amongst the leading DXers in Cuba during the 80s and early 90s.
But he wa best known and loved due to the net he created: La Rueda Villa Azul de los Molinos which aired everyday at 17.30 on 7.060 Mhz.
He was an avid contester and was amongst the first Cubans to obtain the DXCC Award. He will be always remembered.
