A few local hams and I have started a crowdfunding campaign through GoFundMe to get a project of ours built and operating this year. We are of modest means, and while we have the expertise to operate this project, we lack the funding to get it all together. We are hoping this campaign can change that and get it going.

We are building a mobile radio communications center to be used by local emergency responders (including a couple of our group who are volunteer rescue squad in No. VA) on an as-needed basis to cover most of the FCC amateur radio bands. Also, when no being used in this role, the center would be volunteered as a classroom for organizations like the Boy Scouts, and local technical schools who have people that would be interested in learning how to operate radios for disaster preparedness and just the enjoyment of the hobby.

More details are available here on the GoFundMe page: http://gofundme.com/obfjhw covering the goals and radio capabilities of this project. Hope you can take a look, any support you can provide towards our goal is appreciated.

Regardless of whether you can help out or not, I appreciate your time, and 73, Mike.
