Bill Juhre--ex-W9IMQ(SK) created a syndicated comic strip featuring members of his family.
He was in QSO with a KH6, who complimented him on it. Trouble was, he wasn't aware of it
being printed in Islands' newspapers, and wasn't being paid the royalty. Long story short,
he quit drawing the strip, moved from Illinois to Green Bay, taking a day job as curator of
the Neville Public Museum. He also taught a Saturday morning art class for school kids, which
I had the good fortune to attend. He was a very good teacher. For example, as he drew a
picture of a horse, he would tell a little story about it. He once gave a "chalk talk" at our
    Mike & Key Club meeting.

Bill was an early VHF enthusiast, and built a home on Scray's Hill,
where the local TV towers are located. Two meter activity was very sparse
in those days (early 50's), so he often put a ticking clock by the mic, and
    transmitted his beacon.

Meeting Bill's family was like meeting the characters from "The Orbits."
It appeared daily in our local paper. Sometimes, his ham radio activity
was portrayed. Below, an example of his artistry:
