    Former governor of Tolima died, Ramiro Lozano Neira -

    The orteguno doctor and liberal exmandatario died at age 83 in the capital, was the first Governor of Tolima by popular election (1992-1994).

    Ramiro Lozano Neira died in Santa Fe Clinic in Bogotá, after remaining in coma since last December.

    The former president had undergone open heart surgery, but close friends have specified that has died of kidney problems stemming from diabetes suffering.

    Neira Lozano Ortega was born in November 19, 1931 and studied medicine at the Universidad Javeriana. He was president of the Red Cross Tolima when tragedy of Armero in 1985, belonged to the Departmental Assembly, was alderman of Ibague, founder of the Lions Club and captain Combeima chief of the Fire Department of Tolima capital.

    It was liberal extraction and became the first Governor of Tolima elected at the polls. He introduced himself as a civic candidate and 34 000 935 votes were won in the 1991 elections.

    His wife Graciela Lozano Chacon was in Ibagué and moved to the capital of the Republic where the funeral and cremation will be made later.

    Ricardo Ferro, candidate for mayor of Ibague, expressed his condolences via twitter: "I deeply regret the death of Dr. Ramiro Lozano Neira accompany his family at this difficult time.."

    It was learned that his ashes will be brought to Ibague to install them burning chamber and fire with honors exgobernante.
