John's interest in ham radio ranged from 160 meters to 2 meters.
He was a linchpin in Sidewinders on Two in northern Texas and
southern Oklahoma and often was net control for their weekly
net. I had a number of eyeball to eyeball QSOs with John and
he was a warm, friendly and helpful human being. John passed
    very unexpectedly May 3, 2007.

    RIP KM5ES

He worked for the Eufaula ambulance in the later 70’s and early 80’s, Wellington Hills Nursing Home, Home Health Care with Lake View Home Health, and 9 years ago joined Volunteers of America as a Rehabilitation Training Specialist. But all of this came second to his love for his family.

John is survived by his wife, Judy Petersen of Eufaula, OK, daughter, Amy Petersen of Eufaula, OK, son, Ryan McFarland of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter, Lisa McFarland of Oklahoma City, OK, mother, Leona Petersen of Eufaula, OK, brother, Bobby Frazier of Eufaula, OK, sister, Patty and husband John Powell of Eufaula, OK, sister Loretta and husband Jerry Winn of Henryetta, OK, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Petersen.
