    Dad went to be with our Lord, back in October. He was very active with the Muncie Area Amature Radio Club in Muncie, IN. Local Repeater is WB9HXG.

    Dr. John V. Osborne - 89

    Muncie - Muncie – Dr. John V. Osborne, 89, passed away Monday morning, October 13, 2014, at his residence.

    He was born on May 15, 1925 in Kansas City, MO the son of George L. and Frances A. (Collins) Osborne. He graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago in 1947. He also served in the US Navy, US Public Health Service, and US Coast Guard.

    Dr. Osborne moved to Muncie in 1963 where he practiced General Surgery at the Muncie Clinic. He retired from General Surgery and Industrial Medicine in 1997.

    He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Sigma Nu Fraternity, and Rotary Club.

    Surviving are his wife, Phyllis McNees Osborne; five children, Mary Lee Ewald (husband, Erich), Anderson, John Franklin Osborne (wife, Lucette), Demopolis, AL, Barbara Samuels (husband, Phil), Lisle, IL, Robert Osborne (wife, Natalyia), Ft. Worth, TX, and Cynthia Eckhardt (husband, Ralph), Crofton, MD; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Schaub Osborne, the mother of his children.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014, in St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County and the US Navy.

    Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The American Heart Association, Memorial & Tributes Program, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
