Yeah. Right. I can see that happening. "Hey, Abdul, Call the bisexual atheist libertarian and see if he and his cop buddies want to blow up a building." Because we have sssooooo much in common. Tell you what, ED. If they call me I'll give them your number.

I have a few theories on potential terrorist targets and could probably put forth a good argument to support them. ._._.

Well, prior to 9/11, who would ever have thought a hijacked airliner would be used as a bonb to hit WTC? And the hijackers were creative enough to bring box cutters as weapons that would pass through the security that was in place only to look for guns and bombs and not other weapons.

For sure, there will be another attack. There will be more than one future attack. And the attacks are going to be in places we probably have overlooked or are still highly vunerable or at symbolic locations that we don't think are important, but would be important to the terrorists, such as The Prophet's birthday or something.

We simply must be vigilant, observant, and ready to act when it happens and not be giving the enemy other suggestions for targets, so let's drop discussion of where specific targets may be.

Not funny.

In July 2003, terrorists struck at Tushino Airfield in the northwest area of Moscow, Russia. #The airfield was hosting the "Krylya" [Wings] festival -- a popular summer event for young music fans.

A terrorist attack of any public gathering is tragic.

It is my belief that the largest disruption would happen in one of two ways.

1) Smalltown, USA - send the "we can get you anywhere" even in the center of your country message.

2) In a major marque shopping district during the period between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Every large city has one. It would screw up the economy as a whole if Xmas season shopping was at risk.

PS: for those of you who think we are aiding and abetting (sp?) -- to think your enemy is less intelligent than yourself and has not thought of any of this already is excessively pompous. just because they hate us doesn't make them ignorant - just misguided.

This is just what all the news agencies did in the first gulf war. Saddam and his crew would send off a SCUD missile and all the news agencies would be right there telling every one how it just missed a synagogue or school or something. They were acting as the best forward observers Saddam could get. Hell they would even put up city maps most of the time.

Yeah! That's the ticket! Don't let any information out about where the citizens of this fine Republic could be in danger! Don't allow the free discussion of possible danger! Let's encourage everyone to stick their heads in the sand and ignore the fact that death and desctruction could be coming to their neighborhood soon! Or, better yet, let's issue ruby slippers to everyone and have them click their heels and say "There's no place like home," three times. Or, we can all gather around the campfire, hold hands, and sing "Kum-by-yah" while the trucks filled with explosives drive up!

Information about threats is one of the best weapons against those threats. And, let's be honest, there are some very devious and intelligent people on the other side, planning these attacks... I doubt that there is much we can say here that will come as a new idea to them.

I stand by my comment. This is an amateur web site, amateur radio not amateur anti-terrorism specialist.

There is nothing contructive about anything being said here.

Nothing about readiness, nothing about preparation. Just let see who will get hit next.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Dan,

Did I miss where I resign my American citizenship when I became a ham?

We are all still citizens (unless I missed that box on the form), and knowing WHERE an attack is likely is a good first defense... one can get away from prime targets!

Sorry. I just based that on my own experience with militia members (having worked with a few of them, listening to them talk about guns and emergency rations all day - and, heck, I LIKE guns! Have a few myself) and TV magazine/news shows about the militia. What I got out of it was the militia hates the US Government as much as, if not more than, the Mid-East terrorists. Sort of a common cause?

The ones I knew were burying SKS assault rifles in plastic bags in the woods, along with food, so they can take over the nation. Or living in huts in Texas, 20 guys claiming ten million Texans want to break away from the States. THAT sure sounds like Democracy. One of my co-workers was involved heavily with that group. He sure was paranoid for a week or so after that incident!

Having retired, I no longer work with them, so maybe they have mellowed out some? To be really honest, I thought militia was sorta passe these days, so hadn't given it much thought till I saw your post. Gosh, I would think you militia guys and gals have an image problem with mainstream America. Might want to work on that, to stop folks like me from getting bad impressions, thinking militia is just a bunch of outlaws, like those dudes in the Four Corners incident. Sounds like a lot of Americans may not know your value? Hey, toot your horn a bit, and get the news out. Maybe Fox News would like the story?

None of the militia guys I knew, by the way, qualified as bisexual atheist libertarians. Of course, I didn't ask, and they didn't tell, which suited me just fine.

Nah, don't give 'em MY number! I LIKE the nation AND the Government! Did my stints in military service as well as government service, 'in service of my country!" And, yep, did the cop thing, too. I wouldn't be much use to them. I have no buildings I want to blow up, and no Americans I want to harm. I'd rather make my changes at the voting booth.
