    Edward A. Cadorette, AA1DX SK

    Edward A. Cadorette, 98, of Easthampton, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at his home.

    He was born April 30,1916, in Easthampton, the son of the late Sylvio A. and Rose M. (Fortier) Cadorette, raised in Easthampton, and was a graduate of Easthampton High School class of 1935.

    Edward was employed for 40 years as a firefighter for the town of Easthampton, serving as a captain, as the superintendent of fire alarms and as an acting deputy chief for a short time. He retired in 1979.

    In his retirement Edward had worked at the O'Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton, as well as at other funeral homes in the area. He was a lifelong communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church, now the Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton. Edward was an avid hunter and fisherman in his day, and was an accomplished HAM Radio operator for many years with the call letters of WA1LBY and AA1DX.

    His beloved wife of 59 years, Winifred M. (Moffatt) Cadorette passed away Dec. 7, 1998. Edward leaves his two sons, Colonel Richard E. Cadorette, U.S. Army Retired, and his wife Nancy of Chester, Virginia, and Fr. Curt R. Cadorette, Maryknoll Missionary, John Neumann Chair, Theology Department, University of Rochester, New York; his two grandchildren, Steven R. Cadorette of Fairfax, Virginia, and Sonya K. (Cadorette) Shoemaker of Murphfreesboro, Tennessee; and his three great-grandsons, Kyle, Carson and Evan Shoemaker, all of Murphfreesboro, Tennessee.

    Funeral services and burial will be private. The O'Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
