We lost a great one

Carl Cook, AI6V (P49V, ex-WA6JUD) is SK as of early this morning.

Holy cow, I can't even count how many times his expeditions are in my logs over the years. Great operator, great guy.

 

Yes, I heard. The big C.

I had the honor of knowing Carl from the time many years ago when he co-owned a ham store in Concord, CA. He and Joe Rudi, NK7U (ex WA6PVA), and I would get together up at Carl's well appointed station on Tower Road in the Sierras. In fact Joe was there just a couple of weeks ago doing some tower work for Carl. Carl's wife is an avid ham and though Carl knew his passing would be soon from cancer he wanted the station in good shape for his wife's use.

Carl was a nice guy, an excellent DX'r and of course a super contest operator from P40V (later P49V) in Aruba. RIP OM
