K0R operating from Kansas City, MO, this weekend, October 25-26, 2014.

This special event station is in conjunction with the 150th anniversary observation of the October, 1864 US Civil War battle that took place in what is now Kansas City, MO. Combined Union forces under US General Curtis met Confederate units of General Sterling Price's Missouri Expedition forces in a three day encounter that ended with Confederate forces retreating south, under pursuit, along the MO/KS state line. With over 30,000 troops involved, The Battle of Westport was the largest Civil War action west of the Mississippi River.

We will be joining military reenactors, living history demonstrations and encampments, and the ever impressive Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard from Fort Riley, KS in the 3-day long observation.

Battle of Westport 150’s website: <http://www.battleofwestport150.org/>

This will be a fairly "laid back" and small event station. We plan to operate mostly CW, and a lot of that with straight keys, but there should be some phone contacts made as well.
