Just a FYI... AA4AN is none other than Timothy Gains from the Christian Rock Group Stryper.

Taxes on 8 grand will be about 25%. Most cheap hams would sell the radio to pay Uncle Sam.

Unless of course, you reside outside of the states, then you don't pay taxes on winnings.

I think also some states don't have a state tax on sweepstakes.

I'd be happy to pay the taxes if I won. This HAM wouldn't be selling the 990.

Wow, I haven't listened to them since the late 80's. I didn't realize they were still around. Keep rock'n guys

Of course. However, as far as the IRS is concerned it's income and whatever your
IRS bracket is (mine is 39%) you'd have to pay, regardless of any state tax policies on winnings.

So bring it on!! HAPPY to pay the IRS on this one I gotta say :D:D

    I WANT that radio!!

    :)

I hope my luck will be better than the last 14 years has been, That rig would not be sold, it would be used quite a bit in my shack and enjoyed a LOT!:) But the odds are high, better though than the lottery or a trip to an Indian Casino, and infinitely more satisfying .
My luck has to change for the better sometime in the near future,if I win it, wonderful, if not, I hope it goes to someone who can truly use it daily and not as a backup rig for their Hilberling collection.
Love to have it but so would over 100,000 others so far.
Maybe I will be the 1 out of that number to own it and use the rig daily, nightly, any time I like, Ahh, nothing like that new radio smell is there:)?
I wouldn't know as never owned a new one,not wealthy enough to do that.
This is the stuff to look ahead to though, this is one form of contesting even our resident curmudgeons will agree is enjoyable:)
In the meanwhile, I am inventing an air freshener that smells like a new radio, think it will sell well?;>)
Oh yeah, might cover up that burnt rig stench when all the smoke is let out.....
    73, TGIF,Michelle,thinking positively:)

Many Americans like to complain about taxes. A few naturalized citizens I know absolutely LOVE to pay taxes. They tell me that means they are making real money.
