HELLO FROM DENVER! Am attempting to organize REACT Team in Colorado with coverage into Wyoming. Do you know any potential candidates here in the Rocky Mountains? Have application from REACT HQ. Looking for at least two more people to get started. Ham, GMRS, FRS, CB, etc., whatever your interest. Have been REACT member on and off through the years starting with Suburban REACT #2301 in New Jersey in 1972. Would like to become active again. No teams from Colorado or Wyoming listed on REACT website.73, Vinny WB2KQG wb2kqg@arrl.net

Why would a ham join this and not their local ARES/RACES shop?

Hello. Thanks for writing. Good question. REACT is for hams and non-hams. I enjoyed my prior affiliation and we did some good. 73, Vinny

REACT was for those of us old enough to remember, on the Citizens Band Frequencies when C.B. was Licensed.

After the License requirement was dropped, much of the good stuff on the CB radio bands lost its luster.

Many Former "Cb'ers" have become Licensed Amateur Radio Operators and for the most part
much of what the REACT Teams did is now done via ARES/and RACES.

I wish you the very best in trying to start a group, but you may be trying to "reinvent the wheel"
which may already be active in your local area via local Amateur Clubs.

Thank you. You could be right. Am aware of all this. However, this particular project isn't intended to duplicate ARES or NTS. Not at all. Not sure it'll get off the ground, but I'd regret not trying. 73.

As a matter of suggestion you may want to check the licensee listings for operators in
Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, and Rock Springs - Green Rvier. Those lie along IH-80.
But you can then find contacts in Casper and other areas too. W0GDS

I could answer this, but I invoke the rule "if you can't say something nice, say nothing."

Here's some pics that might make you think twice:

Wackermania, REACT style. (Note the handcuffs hanging from the rear view mirror.)

    Uniforms and badges optional?
