    Congratulations Randy!

You set a very high bar for others to follow in terms of instructional videos. And I am not just saying that because you featured me in your Hellschreiber video!

I stopped watching when it became a one hour long advert. Has that changed?

I know you have to keep the sponsors happy, but it just became way too much.

TWiT is not a publicly-funded network. You have to pay for bandwidth, equipment, and personnel to run it all. Watching 10 minutes worth of commercials during about an 1:10 minute show is nothing in the US. Most of our 60 minute cable and satellite programming is 35 minutes of show and 25 minutes of commercials, and you actually pay for the service to watch it!

Glad to see the Randy coming on the the show. I already have watched all of his videos on YouTube, and look forward to more. Currently, my favorite part of the show is George's segments, due to their practical nature. I'm sure that Randy will have more of the same sort of good practical stuff.

I agree that Ham Nation is becoming a lot more "advertisement" and less "content", I give them credit for getting more creative with the "native advertising," but we still kinda get slammed into the advertisements.

For speciality programming like Ham Nation, I really suggest that producers utilize the "Value for Value" model that Adam Curry along with John C. Dvorak (also on TWiT) created when they started their podcast, No Agenda.

Here is a video of Adam at the CUSP Conference in 2012 where he describes what "Value for Value" really means and how it benefits not only the show, but also the listeners (or viewers):

Thanks, that was interesting. He's seems like a talented guy, for sure. I never saw him in MTV or anything. The first time I saw him was as a guest on TWiT just after Neil Armstrong had died and Leo was a bit embarrassed to discover that Curry was a moon landing denier. I listened to No Agenda once and didn't really feel the need to listen again. Maybe I'll try one more time. For all his talk about "Value for Value", and a donator being a "producer" and all that, they're really just simply asking for donations http://www.noagendashow.com/donations/ which is fine but I don't see anything particularly special about it. I think, at the start, Leo tried doing TWiT by donation only but it just didn't collect enough money.

I watch Ham Nation from time to time. I'll take another look after the changes.

I enjoy George's own show, AmateurLogic TV
