    [​IMG]Shaffer John Harold Shaffer, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 12:01 a.m. at his home in Reynoldsburg, OH surrounded by his family. John was born in York, PA on November 5, 1927 and was preceded in death by his father Daniel Shaffer II, mother Francis Attitia Gallagher, siblings Daniel Shaffer III, Anna Shaffer Miller and Earl V. Shaffer. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois June (Keister) Shaffer; children, Samuel Shaffer (Kathie) of Reynoldsburg, OH, David Shaffer (Barb) of Pickerington, OH and Robin (Shaffer) Aranza of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Amy (Shaffer) Jarrell (Sonni), Brandon Shaffer, Cameron Shaffer, Maggie (Shaffer) Benner (Jonathan) and Frank "Trey" Aranza; great-grandchildren, Jacob Benner, Mia Benner and Faith Jarrell; brother, Evan Shaffer of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from William Penn High School in York, PA in 1946. John served in the US Army during the Korean War, and following discharge worked for WSBA Radio, Bendix, Olivetti Underwood, Prudential and Syntonic Technology from which he retired in 1993. John enjoyed more than 60 years of amateur radio and television, known by his call letters, W3SST and television. He was a founding member of the Keystone VHF Club of York, PA, Life Member of The American Radio Relay League, Century Club member of QCWA and member of ATCO (Amateur Television of Central Ohio). DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY has been entrusted with the arrangements. At John's request, funeral services will be private. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mt.
