Default QSLing , is EQSL a good idea ?

I seem to send out a lot more QSL cards via the Bureau, than I receive. In the UK they have changed the Bureau system. Before, they were dispatched when the envelope were the right weight of the POSTAGE. This could mean long waits. Now they are dispatched every 1/4 year, no matter how many cards are in the envelopes. Some countries differ. In the UK less than 48% of hams are in the RSGB. The Germany Radio Society seems to have the most members at about 77% of members. Italy 75%, (This reflects in the amount of QSL cards I receive from these countries).... USA, ARRL is only 28% and Japan who have the most hams in the world, only 15% are members of the society.
A lot of Arab countries have NO QSL Bureaus, so either it is done via a special QSL Managers, not Societies.
Why do a lot of people seem to be against EQSL ?
I now only QSL direct or via EQSL. If someone sends me a card in the post, with a self addressed envelope, I will return my QSL card free of charge. I am not a big DXer. The reason for SAE, is because their spelling of the language is different from "English", as long as the name of their country, is in English.

While eQSL has their own operating awards, it is not the "real" DXCC award as issued by the ARRL and the ARRL will not accept confirmations from eQSL towards any of their awards.

    I think E-QSL is a great Idea,
Why be tied to the ARRL's apron strings, ?
I joined a few years ago and have already earned the "E-WAS" award, the DX25 award and I am not even a DX chaser !.
The LoTw was so convoluted that I gave up trying to sign up. E-QSL wants a photocopy of your license and that seems reasonable enough to prove you are you.
Back when I had Paper QSL cards collected to get the WAS from ARRL, I did not want to send them to CT since the USPS has a reputation for loosing and ruining things I have sent.

    Hi,

I have a review of eQSL, and LoTW respectively at:

    http://nk7z.net/eqsl-qsl-service/

    http://nk7z.net/review-of-arrl-log-book-of-the-world/

I tried to not to do a set of compare articles, but as it turned out there is some comparing going on. Hope they help.
    Thanks and 73,

It's funny...I don't use eQSL at all but his thread reminded me to go check and see if people are sending me "cards" there...

Yeah, they have been. Way over 1000 of them waiting for me. I just copied the very beginning of a several-page long listing there for me. I guess people are using it!

Beats me. It's a perfectly good system for me.

Never cared for LoTW. I signed up to it under my old call, only to find that the double blind system means I can't see what's coming in. As soon as I realized that, I never went back. I also discovered that if (in the USA and its territories) you're not an ARRL member, you don't get anything out of LoTW. You can never apply for any ARRL award. Now, for people outside the USA, this isn't an issue, but it's a big issue with me. I have no intention of becoming an ARRL member, ever.

I've been on the eQSL system almost from the beginning. I have several of their eQSL awards and I can apply my 600+ prefixes towards CQ WPX awards, including CQ WPX Honor Roll.

All of my calls (past, present, and contesting) are only available direct or on eQSL. They will not be available on LoTW for the foreseeable future, if ever.

It depends, EQSL is backed by CQ Magazine they have their own awards, I chase Counties (USA-CA) not offered by LOTW. Never will be there's omething to be said for that too.

Digital contacts seem to upload immediately to eQSL. A lot of them ultimately upload to LoTW. I get some SWL reports on eQSL, which is neat. And I like that you can apply for and download eQSL certificates for free (though I donate some funds each year).

I looked my call sign up. Seems I have 32 eqsl contacts. Including 4 DX I'm going to mail a card to.
