Tomorrow is February 29,2004....most computer controlled repeaters do NOT count this as a day...they go from February 28 to March 1. Some one is going to have to go and re-program these repeaters that tell the DATE, that it is wrong; in some shape or fashion. Otherwise they will be saying Monday is March 2, 2004 ( when really it is March 1, 2004 ) and so on through the rest of the week and the whole month of March and April and so on ) So, if your local 10 meter, 6 meter, 2 meter, or 440 meter repeater tells the DATE, check it out after midnight tonight ( Saturday, February 28,2004 ) and see what DATE it says it really is...this is LEAP year and we have a February 29, 2004 which is Sunday.....this has NO effect on the TIME-OF-DAY functions, which are usually a few minutes slow any way. Be as nice as you can to others.
I type real slow for those of you who can not read fast.

I once had an Amateur license with (IIRC) an expiration date of 29 February, 1965. The FCC didn't care about my logic, though.
Ha!

Lots of them are wrong out here already... one gives the time, saying it is 3:26pm when it is 2:26pm, and another gives the date..." February 28th 1904," umm, I gues it wasn't y2k compliant. lol.

Funny, I have never seen a repeater that's date aware, just time. Perhaps the high end controllers do date, and TPTB around here have it shut off for that very reason.
Wrong time/date is reportable as "deceptive transmissions".

Do not forget to write your anti-BPL letters,
encourage new amateur radio participation and generally be nice
to one another. That is all.
