    The FIRST thing I do is HIDE all traces of NEWNESS (Boxes, packing, manuals, etc) so if the wife walks in the shack, I can tell her:

    "OH, THAT radio??? Its always been here, for the past 10 years infact! I just put it in line cuz the old one broke."

    Yes it is and they were easy to install the 1.2 gig is a bit more trouble but just a bit. I bought mine a year ago just after Christmas it was on sale and included the D-Star chip and both filters.

    1. Admire the box and luxuriate in the smell of "new radio."

    2. Pull it out, hook it up, see how far I can get without reading the manual.

    3. Read the manual. LOL

    Open the box and make sure I did not get the scratched one that slipped through Quality Control. I've already downloaded and read the manual...ready to play after that.
