What has happened to Dentron ?

Abject apologies; I had been away from Ham radio for several years; I am now the "third" owner of a Dentron GLC-1000T Tuner; except that "one" of the "ball drives" slips quite a bit; I have inspected it, thinking maybe I could "dissasemble it" and do some "re-hab"; no joy; Does anyone have any suggestions as to a replcement "ball drive (?)

Dentron went out of business twenty five years ago.

That said, there is probably a good chance you can find a suitable replacement drive from either a vendor, or scavenged from an old rig.

I haven't seen one of those tuners but thought you might mean the planetary reducer for the capacitor? Some of these are made by Oren Elliot and midnightscience.com carries one of these. http://www.orenelliottproducts.com/planetar.htm

The key words are "planetary reduction drive" or "vernier reduction drive" whichever applies to your device. You need to know what the reduction ratio is, e.g. 2:1, 4:1, 6:1. A few sources:
