Default Wouxun kg-uv6d what is channel name used for?

I have a new kg-uv6d. I have figured out the programming pretty well. The software is easy to use but I don't find the keypad to be that hard it use. What I don't understand is what the channel name is used for? I thought that maybe in channel mode it would display the name but it does not and if there is a way to switch so that it does I have not found it. Any guidance is appreciated.

Assuming it works the same way as a UVD-1 or-2, there are three 'CHANNEL' modes - one of which is 'NAME'. If you select MENU 21, you should see 'CH-MDF'. Press MENU again to be able to change the mode. The CH Mode just shows the channel number. The NAME is edited with Menu 26.

That is what I am looking for but MENU 21 changes the RPT Multifunction Key. I don't see any MENU item for CH-MDF.

MENU 27 is now the channel name change item for this model BTW.

Thanks for the quick reply. There must be a way to do it.

Found it. It is MENU 22 and the book calls it Working Mode Switch even though the display calls it CH-MDF.
