Episode 19: AMSAT Mission to Mars*
AMSAT has some big plans. Going to Mars? Well, it's on the table. And although when we're
talking about AMSAT, we never really say anything is "down to earth," there are some more
immediate projects. Like controlling a remote vehicle with commands relayed from the ISS (think
Curiosity Rover... hmmm, that Mars thing keeps creeping in).
AMSAT's President Barry Baines WD4ASW stopped by the HamRadioNow 'studio' at the
Shelby NC Hamfest last weekend for a quick chat with KN4AQ. When they finished, almost an
hour later, everyone around them had closed their booths and headed to dinner! Another
in-depth HamRadioNow interview is waiting for you.

*AMSAT going to Mars? Yes - the German arm of AMSAT has active plans to test
a satellite designed for Mars orbit. This won't win you the Elser-Mathes cup, but it's a start!
Episode 18:
ARRL Heading West, CQ on Hams at 100, and
Hams Cheat in CQ Contest Scoring
We didn't promote Episode 18 here on QRZ.com (don't want to wear out our welcome... but thanks, QRZ!),
so let's catch up. This episode comes out of the Huntsville Hamfest. Gary and Jeff talk to the ARRL's Bob Inderbitzen
NQ1R about several things, including the upcoming ARRL National Convention in the San Francisco area in October.
And they chat with CQ Magazine editor Rich Moseson W2VU about the lack of excitement over the 100th
anniversary of the most specific date anyone can point to regarding the beginning of Amateur Radio
(the Radio Act of 1912), and CQ's plans to speed up contest reporting and publication. Part of the reason
for the speed-up? To make it harder to cheat by massaging your score after looking at other published logs.
Hams cheating on contests? We're shocked... shocked!
