Heatsink / case for QRP amplifier
Anybody know where they get those heatsink / cases they use for the CB type amplifiers? I'd like to use one to mount my EB-63 board into.
Thanks

Usually, the HS and enclosure are two separate items.
CCI (who also sells the EB-63 kits) has a pretty nice one for $18: http://www.communication-concepts.co...eat-sinks.html
If you were to use that HS and just cut it slightly smaller, a cute aluminum enclosure like this one would work: http://www.budind.com/pdf/hb401.pdf (look at model AC-402).
That chassis is $12 here: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...nijFsv%252bQhk
Of course there are lots of options. These are possible starting points.

I'll give that Bud some thought. That heatsink is exacly like the one I have already. Those CB amp boxes are neat, though. the heatsink is milled with two sides with mounting ears and internal slots. The board slides into those slots, as does a sheet of aluminum for the bottom. Then the ends are screwed on to hold it all in place. Nifty.
NOT MY AMP....

Looks like an extrusion, where a single block of aluminum is transformed into the enclosure and heatsink in one push through the tooling.
Not a bad idea!

Ive seen them countless times, but i cant get any to return in searches today.

They really are neat and tidy. I just wish I could find one!

There are heat sinks available for reasonable cost that can be attached to mini-boxes, chassis, etc., with very little effort.

Go to 'PURE POWER RF surplus' website.
Good luck.

Did you get yours yet?
Are the cut edges as sharp as they look in the photos? Looks like (in the photos) each one is cut from a much longer extrusion, using a circular saw -- looks like a lot of sharp edges that might be dangerous. What is yours like?

Yes, they do need "neatening up". Easily done with a good file, though. Notice there are other lengths available, too.
