Ham radio choices are like selecting a car to drive.
You have many choices and not all agree with what the other guy wants to do.
    That's what makes life interesting.
If we were all the same life would be rather boring.

At times ham radio seems less like a single hobby with many branches than a small collection of separate hobbies. Either way it's pretty cool.

Some select a YUGO, some a SMART CAR and others, very wise others, select a TOWN CAR! Lets see who walks away from a Wreck!

    Default My DIGI headache

A friend gave me a packet box to get me into the 20th century on DIGI. Nice gesture but I soon found out it was a closed society. No one would talk to me on 2M packet. I had one connection with another station barely exchanged names and QTHs. No one else was answering my request for connect.
Then I found there was a new DIGI mode coming out nearly every month and you had to buy new software, upgrade your sound card or replace computer with a faster one and so on...
It's like a money pit. Buy an old boat or house to "fix up" and pour in the money. It never ends.
I elected to stay on the old steady, reliable (DIGI)/analog mode of CW...

More like 25, unless they were foisting them off on you guys years after they exited the US market.

By far the worst car I ever had to test and write about, and there were some truly wretched cars back in those days.
