Day Time Static
I have a DX80 dipole that is strung from the corner of my house under the overhang with one end out to the back yard and the other inline with my house under the overhang. It is about 20 feet off the ground.
Since reconfiguring into this alignment, I am having s9+ static during the day, but perfect reception during the night. During the day I can get zero reception.
I hope to learn how to fix this.

Not enough information.
Is this on 80m? Your noise level should be higher at night.
How was it oriented before? What else changed?
One place to start is figure out if the noise is coming from your house: what is on during the day, and off at night?
Try shutting off the mains, so nothing in the house is powered. Power the receiver with a battery. Does the noise go away?

On what band are you having the noise issue with? Lately I have noticed most of the higher HF bands have been noisy, not matter what antenna I am on during the day.

I have dynamic static here. An oxymoron.

Daytime static on most of the bands here is so discouraging I am beginning to wish I'd never left KH6. I turn on the rig, turn on the noise blanker (helps some, but...), tune around and wade through the noise for a little while and then hit the power button again in disgust.
I hope cdx improve in the fall, which is just around the corner. I can't remember ever being so discouraged with the ham bands as this but maybe it's just me.

Ok is this hydro line noise you are hearing? Or a plasma TV? By moving the legs of the dipole you could now have it pointed in the direction of the noise source.
Do you have noise on 2 or 6 meters if you have a radio for those bands? If the noise if being caused by a local source you should be able to detect it on those two bands. Somewhere close to me there is a bad insulator or pole hardware that acts up on 6 meters. So I know it is close. Just a matter of finding it and getting it fixed. Right now, hardly any noise on 6 meters. I can actually see the noise level rise on 2 meter FM if I turn the Icom 7000 pre amp on. Same goes for 6 meters on the FT-950 with the pre amp on. With the beam I can get close to the direction the line noise is coming from.
I can tell you this much from my location. The noise level here on 20 meters most of the day was around S 5 using a dipole. Now at 7 PM EST is is down to S 0-1. The other bands have quieted down also. 17 Meters was about S 4 this afternoon using an elevated ground plane. Now the S meter is sitting at 0. S 5 with the second stage of the pre amp on. I can copy a weak CW signal through the noise level I have now, with the pre amp off.
40 and 80 are a bit noisy but that is due to a storm moving this way. This morning on 3.755 when I was NCS for a net the static crashes were peaking S 9. Now the noise level is down to S 7 on average. My normal noise level is around S 4 on that band. But then again I am in the city and you know what happens when you live in a city. Noise sources every where around you.
One other thing. Are you sure the noise is not from a source inside your own home? Can you operate the radio off a battery and turn the main hydro off? If so do that and see if the noise level drops. If not then shut off each breaker one at a time and see if anything changes. Could be as simple as a cell phone charger causes your problems.
Good Luck, I know how you feel as I went through this last winter. What ever was causing the problem either fell off a hydro pole or got repaired, or some appliance got shut off for the summer.

The noise is primarily 20m and 40m.
Before, the antenna was oriented free from the house, but turned at awkward angle in three places.
I worked at shutting off things in my house with no improvement or change. I have no idea what might be causing it in my neighbors house.
Is it possible to string a dipole with a 90degree bend at the balun? I am thinking to trying to reconfigure the hang to eliminate the neighbors house.

I am not sure what Hydro line noise is? I don't think it is plasma TV as I don't have one and the neighbor's (if he has one) is not close to the antenna. I operate on 20m and 40m mostly. The problem is pervasive on 20m, 40m, and 80m.
thanks for the advice. I will work through finding potential causes and check the symptoms.
