2012 Field Day media coverage - KATV Little Rock
During the 2012 Field Day I felt challenged to bring two of the Little Rock Field Day sites in the news segment of a local TV station. I picked the market leader in the market because quite obviously it had the biggest reach. Luckily, at the time I was an employee for that station. Under the condition that I drive out to the sites and film it all in my private time I got the Saturday and Sunday producers convinced to bring it during the 10 pm news. The result looks pretty nice, yet I would have loved for the story writer to talk to me instead of using third hand information of the web.

I am only allowed to include one video in this post so I had to go that route.
I like the pirate flag in the background...
Nice job, good to see FD activities getting exposure.
It was surprisingly easy to get our producers convinced to donate some valuable on air time to this event. I believe the trick is not to just submit a written press release but to actually call up the stations assignment desk and talk to them. TV stations get a flood of press releases every day. A short phone call will often do the trick. Try it yourself, they can't say more than 'no'.
