Bud RF Amplifier

I have acquired an old Bud RF amplifier that appears to have been a kit. It's a push-pull circuit and, although the tubes are missing, the socket arrangement suggests it used a pair of 811A's. I'm guessing a vintage of the early 50's. Anybody have any recollection of such a critter?

I have never heard of a "Bud" amplifier factory built or kit form. There is no mention in Brand's book on post-World War II equipment. There are a lot of little known brands, but the Brand book has most of them.

In the late 60's and early 70's there was a line of music amps and accessories known as Pro-Bud. A photo of what you have may help.

That must be a real Boat Anchor that was built when the Bullfrogs were allowed to say Bud.

It was likely adaptable to a fairly wide range of tubes with just a bias change. The 812, V-70D, 100TH/TL, 5514, are a few that come to mind besides the 811 which was mostly hyped as an audio tube back then. The plate tuning cap spacing will be able to narrow it maybe.
