Married Men Need Wife's Support for Ham Radio?

How necessary is it for your wife to support your Ham Radio habit? From what I see, there are a few basic categories of Amateur Radio wives/husbands:

1. Supports you in your hobby 100% and participates with you
2. Dislikes Ham Radio but supports you anyway because you like it.
3. Hates ham radio and rides your a$$ about it for being so uncaring about her and ignoring her
4. Hates you AND ham radio and simply rides your butt 24/7 about being so stupid.

My sainted wife falls in category #2 where AR isn't her cup of tea, but she loves that I do it in place of my former hobby, firefighting (which scared her sh@tless). In fact, my wife's biggest complaint with me is that I don't listen to her. I told her I do listen to her, she just doesn't make sense.

Very important to have her support. She does not have to like your hobby, but she should darn well support it. She is sacrificing the two most important values she has: Her money and time. If you do not know or understand that if she objects, her Lawyer will make sure you understand crystal clear.

My wife tolerates my radio habit - every once in a while, I find out something entirely useful to her and she's delighted. She pretty much let's me put up any antenna I want, so that's a bonus as well, and she only rolls her eyes when I buy hardware, but is OK with it. Naturally, my part is to make sure when she wants something she gets it.

And yea, I plan to keep her so keep yer mitts off!

Just about everyone I know HATES Ham radio! (Except for all my Ham buddies). My wife and son, despite being Hams themselves, DETEST IT WITH A PASSION! But they realize it is all very BENIGN. Just something QUIRKY their very strange Husband and Dad does. He is a RADIO NUT! And I can never do anything HALF FAST. I hafta go HOG WILD into it! And that would be an understatement. They can't WAIT for me to DIE! Then they can get on with a NORMAL LIFE!

I think I score 2.5 - she doesnt care for it at all, cant understand it, and does not like money and time spent on it. But just about tolerates it. Then again, I also surf and ride motorcycles...both of which are far more than hobbies to me.
