Lawrence "Lawsy" Nuechterlein
(July 24, 1921 - July 31, 2012)

Passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center – Cooper, age 91 years. Lawsy was born on July 24, 1921 in Reese, MI to the late Walter and Edna (Warnick) Nuechterlein. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps during WWII. Lawsy married Ernestine Weiss on July 24, 1947. She predeceased him in 1969. Lawsy owned and operated Nuechterlein Electric, retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and on its board of trustees for six years. He was active in the Lutheran Laymen’s League, Camp Lu Lay Lea, the Frankenmuth Historical Association, and 4H. Lawsy was chairperson of the Saginaw Lutheran Hour and active in Amateur Radio. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 150. Lawsy was a recipient of the H.L.K. award and the Paul Harris Fellowship award.
Surviving are a son, David Nuechterlein of Frankenmuth, a daughter, Mary Nuechterlein of Vassar, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters, Ruth Kueffner, Marvin (Dorothy) Nuechterlein, Jerry (Trudy) Nuechterlein, all of Frankenmuth, Viola Hubinger of Saginaw, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark D. Brandt will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Lawsy’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St.Lorenz Mission Projects, the Lutheran Hour, or Camp Lu Lay Lea.
