If you want to add the corona washer (suggested by W8JI) I can send you a digital of it so you can see where it goes. It is a brass #8 washer soldered along with the connection made to the grounding lug of the 160m padding cap. I'll send you a digital if you give me your email address. Lou

This is so interesting I just popped open a Corona to drink while I'm reading.

    Best with a lime.

What ever you do DO NOT GO TO THE CORONA BREWERY IN MEXICO CITY, YOU WILL NEVER DRINK ANOTHER. They get their water from wells below the brewery and around 100yds away is a old and still used SEWER Plant hence it tastes better with Lime. Drink Pacifico you will not need the lime!!

I saw this in person and have never touched a Corona since even the Mexicans will not drink it.
I Thank God for Propagation and all the DX I get to work.
And that I get to live in Hawaii.
    God Bless all.

I had heard that and quit drinking it long ago. Drink Schlafly's now. Good stuff!

That corona washer is only effective on 160M.

The correct way to tune a GG triode linear is to use grid current as your indicator. Tune, Load, repeat until the current is peaked in the safe zone which is between 125-150ma max for that tube. The tube is pretty much self limiting if you also watch power output, you get past that sweet point and the power drops. 60-70W is plenty of drive as any more and you are driving the tube into compression and on SSB thats not good for the IMD.

The amp is clean inside and out, and everything seems to work as it should except for the following problems on 75 & 40m.

It seems to tune up real well and do everything it should on 20m-10m no problem (yes it has the 10m kit installed) and easily outputs 1 KW.

    However, 75m and 40m is a different story. ...

 There may be something amiss with the contacts on the bandswitch. If the P-out peaks at the Tune-C or Load-C range limit stop, odds are that it's a contact problem.
