What to build?

I have plenty of raw materials at hand. Even have everything required to build an "Arrow-style" duplexer. Now I have to decide what antenna to build for the sats. An Arrow-copy? An IOio? Or... something else?

Thoughts? Opinions on those antennas mentioned? Something completely different?

Come on! Help me make up my mind!

I've built several styles over the past year.

Do you intend to use this from a car?

From the field?

At home with a TV rotor?

I can make you a recommendation based on those answers. I would not waste my time with a tape measure beam.

The smaller 3 element designs such as iOiO, CJU, and K5OE Handitenna are all adequate for reception of any of the current mode J birds' down links.

If you have a 2m mobile with antenna, I'd start with a CJU for 70cm receive with an HT, and use the car for the uplink. Full duplex, and you can operate in the AC with the CJU out the window!

This design is totally worth your time! The simplicity, the *size*, the *weight*, the *compactness* and my god the *gain* from this little design is stunning.

7dBi on 2m, ~10dBi on 70cm.
It weighs next to nothing, practically indestructible with bendable elements (using #10 house wire), very cheap and great gain.

Duplexers are so last year's model! Simplicity is very sexy, because it means there's less to fail. With this kind of design, there's very little that can go wrong. And the weight! My god, what a beauty.
