Q: Why is JavaScript disabled on QRZ Bio Pages?
A: JavaScript is a powerful web programming language that is widely used and an essential
part of today's web experience. All of QRZ's pages make use of it in one way or another.
Since it is a powerful and useful programming tool, it has become an item of interest for
hackers, spammers, and criminals. Because of this, we must take every precaution to
insure that such people are not permitted to insert their own Javascript on pages that appear
on QRZ.
With over 450,000 registered users and dozens of new folks coming on board each day,
the task of determining who can be trusted becomes impractical. Even with persons
that we absolutely trust there can be no guarantee of safety since some codes can embed
themselves without the users knowledge. Therefore, to address this issue, QRZ has disabled
all user-supplied JavaScript in the Bio pages.
This has the unfortunate side effect of making some popular user applications such as
Revolver Globe inoperative. We're sorry for this inconvenience however in the interest of
security there is no viable alternative but to disable all user-supplied scripts.
