When the focus on, say, a road race for four hours straight, and let's face it, from minute to minute (or even 15 minutes to 15 minutes) almost nothing changes, this is just silly. All the "action" is in the last three or four minutes, where they practically kill themselves for position in a hope of winning. The 3:55 prior to that, not much is going on.
Even the volleyball games have downtime. Most events do. We should be able to watch a one-mile run or a 400m swim all in one shot, as we're talking a few minutes. But for events that last 10-15-20-30+ minutes, there's no reason to see it from beginning to end, as what happens in the middle rarely changes anything. If something exciting happens, they have it captured anyway and can play it a minute later, after it happened. I don't think anyone in the world would care.
Better editing, guys.
Worse part for me is the hype of the rivalry that is supposed to exist between the athletes. The swimming commentary in the 100 X 4 relay last night was full of this BS hype. The media hype for the female gymnastics is terrible also. My new favorite sport is field hockey.

Big Orange does travel very well and Brazil might be the only other Country that comes close to having a large fan base at every event in London.

Not knowing how your feeds from the UK are being sent to the US, we in the UK have about four or five TV channels showing the various parts of the games, but apparently the transmissions are not controlled by the BBC, the Olympic organisation takes over the schedules.
Nice to see Bradley Wiggins winning the Gold medal for his time trial win , and also to see Chris Froome who came second in the Tour de France win a silver medal. Surprisingly they will not be taking a rest, in a couple of weeks they will be riding again in the Tour of Spain

2 women in the rowing venue got a Gold medal also for GBR. Mr. Wiggins has had a great Summer of 2012. Winning the Tour de France and Gold at the Olmypics in the same Year, should cement Sir. Wiggins place in GBR's sport's History. It must be an unforgettable thrill, to be riding your way to a Olmypic Gold Medal on the roads in your own Country and listening to the fans cheering.

Didn't know there WAS a "shotput catch" event. Now how about a guy with a cricket bat (or baseball bat) at the far end of the (don't shoot me!) "pitch" ....

Good grief ! Catching a shotput ! I think they weigh about nine pounds. I tried throwing one of those when I was at school and I managed about nine feet !
Chris Hoy has won another gold medal, I think that's his fifth. I'm hoping tomorrow Victoria Pendleton will win a gold. For some reason I can't understand the two ladies were disqualified after another country disputed their win. I can't believe they were trying something on.

After the Badmiton BS with the teams throwing the games, anything is possible, Mel. I never heard/saw such a thing before in watching any sport in my lifetime. Glad they booted out the "players" that did this BDS.

That guy is the security guard for the Cricket team from Panama.

I do have to applaud the effort the GBR has put out in these Games. Both in the production part of it and the athletes they have appearing on their behalf. I was very surprized that GBR has done so well in the events in London. No doubt great effort was involved in making this happen.

Seeing Jess Ennis the World Champion win her event with all of the hype she was subjected to was great. It was truely magnificent to see her preform in all 7 events at the top of her game. A true Olmypic moment indeed. The GBR is winning Medals in lots of events which should inspire the younger folks in the GBR to continue the upward trend. Looks like a new Sports powerhouse is now in the EU.

Apart from a bloke from my hometown winning gold in the Lasers today, the highlight for me is Mo Farah in the 10,000 metres.....what a superb performance and perfectly judged race. And the delight when he took his daughter into his arms was very heart warming. The boy from Mogadishu (but now 100% British) done good.
