HRD and LoTW
I am using the latest free version or HRD and trying to upload to LoTW , can't even find the log files, tried HRD Utilities but during setup get the message cannot access a closed dataset. I can load Lotw manually. When I try to set it up through HRD it wants to re-install TQSL every time. Any help?

Sounds like you may have the wrong file for the tqsl executable set Make sure in the "TQSL executable:" box you have something that looks like this: C:\program files (x86)\trustedQSL\tqsl.exe. You will have to use the path to YOUR tqsl.exe file. Below that you put your private password and station location. You also have to have the URLs for the LoTW in the upper boxes. I think HRD automatically sets those. Don't forget to put in your LoTW username and password as well.
I now remember some problem that caused the "closed dataset" error you mentioned . . . let me ponder it a bit and see if I can remember. I think it has something to do with the type of database you have your log set to. Click on "configure" then "logbook display" then "databases." Scroll over to the right and tell us what type of database you have. Microsoft access or something else?

It's using Microsoft access.

OK, that's not it. I just can't remember what the issue was with the error you are getting. I vaguely remember having to alter something in the database or how it is handled, but sorry, just can't remember. Are you able to download from LoTW using HRD?? Exactly which version of HRD are you using? What's the version number??

OK I found this thread from a couple of years ago. I had the same problem, and I think I finally did a "compact database" option described in my post at the end of the thread to fix the problem. Good Luck!!

I'm remembering some things here . . . let's look at the permission set for your database. You need to find your HRD log file. It's a *.mdb file where the * is the name of your log. In my case, it's in a hidden folder (you have to change your settings to show all folders including hidden) under: Users/<your computers name>/AppData/Roaming/Simon Brown, HB9DRV/HRD Logbook. When you find the .mdb file, right click it and select "properties." Look under "security" and see if all the Permissions are set to "allow."
