yeah paint would be nice, but with aluminum body panels, its a job that "can wait" - There is always something more pressing! The rest of the vehicle is nice, the interior is good, seats are good, all the lights work, it drives fine for an old rover, I redid the brake booster so my power brakes are back.. The rear crossmsmber needs to be replaced (fall project)


Big trip to VT this weekend will Im sure reveal a whole new list of things to do! hopefully none leave me stranded.

Ours is a 1966 ex military FFR 109. Still has the radio mounting points in the rear but was rebuilt a few years ago and now runs on a galv Richards chassis and hauled along by a 200tdi on veg oil

Not had any real interference problem bar the wipers brushes which is not a difficult to damp down (or just avoid using the wipers when the radio is active?). As mentioned above the biggest issue is getting sufficient charge into the battery. I would upgrade to an alternator if you are neg earth already and also a battery upgrade. I run two Bosch Silver S4's between the front seats running in parrallel.

Plate noted on your new aquisition. I know quite a few guys in the East Coast LRC if you are involved with those guys?

Cool rig Paul!!! I love the 3 door 109's. Im not associated w.the EC LRC, but Im on my way to Vermont tomorrow so perhaps will meet a few?..

Sorting out last minute clutch issues now (new hydraulics and now clutch is dragging) and then hopefully hopefully can get to radio install later today. W'ell see.

On the radio install topic my old 2.25 petrol Series 3 was fitted with CB and 2m and did not suffer really with interference (wipers accepted). That had the same set-up as yours. The big issue is the lack of sound proofing which meant actually using the radio while rolling was pretty much a no-go. Saying that my '07 TD5 90 is damped up to the nines and I still get complaints about the background noise

The avtar I use was actually the military ID I found under the paint on the Series 2 when I was rebuilding him. Eventually I will replace it. Stands for South Eastern Command - apparently.
