Kenwood TS-930 CW side tone

Hello,

A fellow ham has a TS-930 that has no CW side tone while sending. Can anyone tell us what he is doing wrong, if anything, or if there is something he can check before he sends it to the shop. He is trying to learn CW, and this is a big hinderance.
