I've never seen an AL-80B I can't tune to a good match on both 15m and 17m, by finding a mid-way tuning point. I use mine on 17m all the time, and have for several years; it runs ~1kW PEP output with about 65W drive on that band, as it does on 15m. I usually tune for that and then reduce drive slightly to keep Ig <150mA, and the PEP output is ~850-900W, measured. I keep it down to 750-800W on CW.
It's a good amp. As I've posted several times, "the amplifier is better than the manual." I think the manual isn't very good.
