Default Pls ID this strange sound.

Bleeps.MP3 These are very rapid bloops and bleeps, almost like a bunch of crazy birds chirping.

The bleeps occur very eratically and ocassionally, for 5-10 seconds, on some of the 800 MHz digital public service frequencies. I don't know if
they are trunk tracking. Sometimes there will be days of scanning without hearing them.

    Wonder what they are.

It sound to me to be digital encryption. Its probably audio from part of P25 trunked radio system.

Our statewide Motorola Astro P25, 800 mHz system just makes a continuous hissing sound in a standard FM reciever .

Agreed, but this is a digi scanner. A Shack PRO-2096 (valued at about $300 I bot for $2).

Digital scanners still will not decode encryption. The sound you are hearing is not from the control channel. It's probably coming through on one of the trunked channels.

Sounds like the pooch scratching at the door. Have you let him out recently?
