HUSTLER 6BTV Antenna
This great multiband vertical antenna is only 3 years old and is in good condition and covers 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 & 75/80 Meters. However, I have to sell it because it does not like being ground mounted (with buried radials) so close the house; which has aluminum siding. Unfortunately, there are no other possible locations on the property that are large enough or safe enough to properly erect or elevate the antenna and an accompanying radial system. If you live outside the Western New State area, and are interested in purchasing this antenna, I will require $180 (which includes shipping costs within the USA). If you live close enough to Rochester, NY and will come pick-up the anrtenna, I will only require $135!
Try pushing it up "high and in the clear" without radials. You'll need a choke at the base. The old saw is that that's the worst way to mount a vertical, but it's 10X > what you've got.
WB2PMD.....> I have a great working duplicate to your Hustler.......I mounted it to the peak of the roof line
on a side mounting bracket. With a standard ladder, I was able to muscel it up and U-bolt it in place.
For your asking price, I would keep it. Mine works better sometimes than my resonant dipoles.
For a ground, just run a strong gound wire down to to your already ground radials under the ground.
Keep the antenna above your aluminum siding of the house.
If you still wanted to part with the Hustler 6-BTV, I wish I lived closer to Rochester, NY and would purchase it for a back-up antenna, and mount it in an ARRAY to get some VERTICAL GAIN IN A SPECIFIC DIRECTION.
If you would like a picture of my installation, drop me a request and I'll e-Mail w/ attachment.
