Icom hand mic

I have an Icom 718. Just picked up an HM-118 mic (8-pin) on eBay for $10(including shipping) but when I key it, it doesn't work. up/down buttons work and I can listen, but hitting the PTT gives me bupkus. It's an Icom product, how can I rewire it? Gotta be something simple. . .
