Need power for HW-18
Just got an old HW-18 off of e-bay in mint condition. What I don't have is a power cord and or power supply.
I don't have a lot of experience with this type of rig. Any help from any Elmers out there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and 73

Which HW-18 is it? There were 3-different models:
HW-18-1 for Civil Air Patrol operation
HW-18-2 for MARS operation
HW-18-3 for 160-meter operation
These units were designed to run from the Heath HP-20 AC power supply or the Heath HP-10 12-volt DC supply. The HW-18 series can use the much more common Heath HP-23 series AC power supplies if the "low" B+ is set for 250-volts and from the HP-13 series 12-volt DC supplies.
The units are crystal controlled and can no longer be used for either CAP or MARS operation. However, the 160-meter unit is fine for amateur radio operation on 160-meters. Both the HW-18-1 and HW-18-2 can be used on the channelized 60-meter band for amateur radio operation if suitable crystals are obtained.
The CAP and MARS versions were USB only and the 160-meter version was LSB only.

I have an HP-18 I got off of ebay as well. I have not done anything with it yet other than a cursory visual inspection.
It uses the Heathkit HP-23 power supply for AC (same as the HW-100/101 and Single banders use) or the HP-13 for 12 VDC.
I'll send you an e-copy of the manual for it if you will provide a suitable e-mail address.
Good Luck!
