Not sure if Tony responded... but I think you're on to something.

Americans have such short memories and are so easily distracted... the art of division, misdirection and "sound bites" are all that's left.

I still fear the general state of things will get much worse in this Nation, before the needed super majority "wake up".

I fear folks must loose what little wealth they have left, and go hungry, before minds are changed.

    Sad...

    Think about it Tony....
Multiculturalism is exactly the same thing.
So is the revelries between sports teams.
That all is a detraction that exploits the above in order to keep people from concentrating on the real issues.

It's the same root mechanism that drives all the childishness that sour surrounds the two party system. The sheep are drawn into it.

    Human Engineering at it's finest.

It is really sad from the point of view of someone who hardly watches TV and hardly listens to mainstream radio
You can see the manipulation and misdirection going on right in front of you. It's so easy for someone who is not sophisticated to be taken in and led by the nose by the mass media. People are so easily coaxed into suspending disbelief they don't even know what is going on half the time. This would happen much less with the kids who grew up in small town USA and went to the same one room school house where the lady who lived up the road taught them for seven years in a row. They were socialized by those in their community and not by TV or the popular music radio station. many who should know better have the "It's on the Internet therefore it must be true" attitude. Any nutcase can put up a website and say anything they want to about anyboedy else and suckers who are a product of a dumbed down public education system believe it.

People don't question anything anymore it seems, they get conned into putting their money in investments that have no basis for providing an income that will equal or exceed the inflation rate, they don't even know what the inflation rate is, or how it's calculated. I half jokingly say I pulled all my money out of my 401Kin August of 1987, I would bet a box of Kalifornia Oranges that most of the Zedders and 90% of the general public don't even remember what happened in October of 1987. The handwriting was on the wall and people lost most of their future retirement after that event, they found out their stocks were worth the paper they were written on and nothing more. I needed to pull out the money to take care of some medical issues that could have waited, I saw the handwriting on the wall and took a 34% capitol gains tax hit and invested in myself. How many are going to be hurt this time because they are living a false reality?, Living in a propaganda bubble.

I feel sorry for those who are so easily led with lies and misinformation, it will cost them dearly.

I believe a large portion of the population has always been easily conned, and always believed whatever they heard or read without doing any real research. The age of instant communications, blogging, etc., just makes it worse. People forget what contributed to the Great Depression. The same goes for the housing market bubble. I remember my parents' house value going from $125,000 down to $65,000 in the late 80's. I was young, (around 10 years old) when that happened. They paid 55k for it in '84, and I remember them thiinking of selling, but house prices were too high for them to move into something else. The were approached by real estate agents to sell, advised by "experts" to sell. in 2004-2005 I was looking for homes and kept waiting for the next "crash," which I believed was inevitable. All the "experts" said it would not happen, couldn't happen, etc. A "market correction" in late 2006 occurred, and I bought a house. I really should have listened to what my instincts were telling me and waited longer. I was lucky though since I didn't pay top dollar at the height of the frenzy.

Anyway, for all the negativity and infighting in the U.S., we will unite when needed. Just think back to September 11, 2001. Everyone in this country pulled together. Making fun of other states and even Canada is just part of life. Why we need the mods to tell us we can't poke fun at each others' home states is silly. New Jersey governer Chris Christie was just recently was on TMZ yelling at a guy on the boardwalk. Yeah, Chris Christie, GOVERNER OF NJ, possible V.P. candidate, and a rather large man, was caught on video yelling at heckler while eating an ice cream cone. In 2009, we had a huge federal sting that caught 44 people, including mayors and other officials, for bribery. We have the Sopranos (much of it filmed in Kearny, NJ where I grew up) which depicts the mafia underworld in NJ. We won't even mention Snookie and that nonsense. I say poke fun at NJ. We are a tough state, full of tough people. We can take it. Besides, there is an old saying in NJ: Sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you.

People will be paying more for food but they will believe there is no inflation because someone with a fake face and fake breasts is telling them there is no inflation. Meanwhile reports are coming in from all over the mid west that sixty percent of the year's corn crop are gone.
But there is no inflation because the news reader with the fake face and the fake breasts and the cleavage that is as deep as the grand canyon said there we are recovering and there is no inflation.

The man who reads the news with the died hair and the bedroom eyes says put your money in the stock market.. A half hour before he was saying all the gains the DOW for 2012 had were wiped out during yesterday's correction. This is a true story, I tuned into MS NBC to see something that was mentioned on Alex Jones just in time to hear that. Unfortunately people think this is a plug and play world, and they must be protected fr4om everything including someone bath-mouthing their state. .

People have been bashing other states since we had only thirteen, it's sad to see that people find it politically incorrect to do so but as I said in Post 233 I shall cease to do so.

I am proud to be an American Proud of what this country stood for, Our Constitution and the men and women who fought and died for it. But that doesn't mean I will not be critical of or lampoon the actions of it's leaders.

    Wow...

    33 pages.

Must be some kind of record, even for QRZ.

More to the point: The basis for a job as moderator should be impartiality. If a moderator cannot maintain a certain sense of detachment and remain impartial, he/ she should hand in the moderator badge.

No site is perfect. QRZ is the best however, then a post like the original one surfaces and makes everyone wonder just what is going on.

People from certain states (we all know which ones) must expect a bit of teasing. It goes with the territory. Most of them get used to it.

    That's all...

Hey Sue, what channel is that female reporter you described on? I think I've been watching the wrong newscast! It is surprising how much B.S. people believe.
