Dorney Park's still in existence??? Thought that would have went the way of Allentown (seeing that it is in Allentown...)

No... IRT is all drama. Pure TV drama...

Though, I did survive a really FREAK windstorm at ZERO degrees outside temp... between pump stations 1 and 2, next to Franklin Bluffs. The winds were estimated to be way over 155 mph by the Prudhoe weather person. This was either Dec, 1999 or Jan, 2000. The windstorm ripped my truck's cab-high fiberglass topper right off my F-350 -- leaving its metal rails and all six camper clamps in place. The fiberglass was RIPPED clean off.

During the other back-to-back month up there, it was -55 to -65 degs F for a week straight, and I've got a story about that, too. In fact, these two months and back to back "weather events" caused me and my family to head back to the lower-48 for a few years. No joke...

Needless to say, the road is tricky... but far from terrible terrible. If you can drive forest service or logging roads, you'd do fine.

My favorite part is Atigun Pass; I really enjoy crossing it!

Because it looks like one of the Cascade back roads we use to take on the way to Diamond Lake in January.

I won't dispute that but you are sighting someone who is well above the average.

I was never treated so well anywhere else outside of the US I have visited.

Your sales tax is high but that is okay, y'all have a big country to support and the population is less than the state of Kalifornia (California). The only bad experience I had there was re entering this country with the folks at the border crossing they were rude and just looking for a fight, they were also United States Customs...
Entering your equivalent were very friendly even to the gents who tried to bring illegal drugs into your country.
I might not like your government, your high taxes or any number of other things but your people are some of the most friendly and welcoming on the planet.
Well Sue coming from you those are very kind words about my country. Hey I agree with you on your U.S. Customs Agents. We have the same problem crossing into your country sometimes. One day you will pull up to the booth and the agent will be nice and friendly. The next time we cross the border when run into someone who thinks he/she is GOD. We just have to bite our tongue, answer their questions and move on.

As for taxes, yes we pay high taxes. But as you said our population is less than your states. So it is costly to maintain our roads, health care etc etc. But you know I had a double by pass in 2006 and it didn't cost me a dime out of my pocket.

And hey I sometimes have a problem with our Governments!

One thing though, Canadians sure spend a lot of their money in your country while vacationing there!

it isn't roads it's rails bus and rail lines, it's having to provide services to places in the Northwest territory. Your challenges are beyond what we have to deal with down here in terms of providing basic services. y'all do a good job at that.
In terms of money you guys have an advantage now.
The value of the US dollar is something seven cents less, when I visited Vancouver I could buy one of your dollars for sixty eight cents, not now....
The Banksters are ruining this country, but I cannot talk much about that without getting into politics.

Tellme about it Sue, they must have a lot of animosity against any ham from QRZ they refused me outright Ifind that kind of an honor I'm too good for them I guess!
Or they don't like anyone else but thier core group. I would pass on a site that has secret forums to discuss others, like putting someone on ignore but equally as tacky and petty
Even with the sometime occasional slings and arrows flying here it is still better as I have found myself relatively welcome.
There are the usual suspects though who have to turn every thing someone says into political, religious, moral whatever just to fight over it. Geez, some who post sometimes I think should take anger management therapy and seek a fight elsewhere, we are all hams, and all humans, I consider common courtesy to be one thing hams especially should practice and not label everybody who posts or replies as some catagory of human, and since a few months ago I niticed the speech I have witnessed when I lived in less tolerant areas commonly known as baiting others, usually prefacedy the type of baiting being done.
It is a racist tactic. I am not disrespecting anyone just fact from my youth I know to be true. It is time for this undeclared civil war to end between Zed members and those who happen upon us, we are ALL humans and deserve equal treatment, The infighting and bickering is why many leave this fine hobby. I think they figured if radio is like this they want no part of it, I have just one complaint though, in the past few years I had soem friends interested in this hobby, I made the mistake of directing them here , they must have gotten into the furums as they tossed the books back at me and said flatly" iIf I WANTED to argue I'd buy a CB " and that was that.
I keep saying is this how we want the world in general to perceive hams if they used any of the material from some of these forums, Go ahead and naysay it but I know a lot of non hams happen across this site and others but this is more prominent than many are.
I would wonder if anyone has even considered if the right(or wrong people) maybe wanting to find reasons to get rid of us could perhaps say we are a lot of antisocial, highly biased people who cannot get along , look at thier writings here and how much animosity they show towards each other over minor differences and a lot of fights happen so they must be an anti social bunch, auction off the spectrum.
I think this is why it is important to be ambassadors of this hobby just as you would help (hopefully) if someone needed the help to learn what it is we really do.
OK enough of this, I have to go finish dinner my stomach beckons, This is IMO the #1 site for ham radio Fred and CO. do a great job !
In closing what I have to say,to the bigots in denial, give up your IMO stupid waste of bandwidth threads about who is gay and who is not it only makes you look pathetic and paranoid IMO.
Bashing people seems to have gotten a bit out of hand by a few crafty enough to fly under the mods radar, and what other purpose than self gratification over making someone else feel bad or posting in a way that says to some hate group, "Hey I'm one of you guys" just by the style or wording of a post. They need to stop fighting this sites owners thier "coordinated" assaults of negative posts are an example, they do not work here, and hopefully never will either. Thanks to those who have been nice to me on here, I appreciate it!
But those who think some of us are easy targets please think twice,or you might be planted in "DA CORNFIELD" by the mods here, and they do a thankless job. I would challenge any of us to handle that job for very long.
Off the soapbox now, Seriously, I mean thanks to my fellow hams who have thier hearts in the right place! VY 73,Michelle
