if it is for sale or you are trading the item, it requires a picture

Thanks Ray. Great site...

Bill, Might I suggest a dollar limit requiring photo. If some one is selling maybe books, An individual picture for each book? Maybe if total selling price is less than a given amount- say $50 maybe no photo required??? I thank you for the fast response.
Best of 73's Ray W0OLL in Leesburg, FL a ham for over 50 years in a antenna restricted development. I am working on a Flag Pole Antenna with an SGC coupler. Thanks Again

Now that I've thought about this a few days, I've changed my mind. At first I thought it was a good idea, but only because a smart seller should include photos, and an honest seller would not be afraid to provide photos upon request.
But to require it onthe theory that it will prevent Fraud doesn't make sense to me. For one thing it's too easy to game the system and I think it will prove to be too tedious to police.
In my view the number one cause of fraudulent transactions is careless or stupid buyers, and that is not something that can be fixed with forum rules. If anything this photo rule will make for even more careless buying, because it creates a fake sense of security.

Good point. I have an elephant gun and, as evidenced by the lack of elephants around here, it keeps them away.
It would be interesting to see any before and after data, showing the efficaciousness (or lack of it) of this new policy.

I think a price should be required also.

Desirable, but should not be required. Prices are often decided later, off site.

Why on earth is it up to W6GQ to just delete people's ads?? We put out time into putting this stuff out there and along comes 'the authorities' and deletes it. I mean geez, how about a friendly email reminder or something?? What a waste of time....

That would be nice but it's their sandbox and they can do as they please.

Fred asked several people to donate our free time as a Moderator.
We put out time into putting this stuff out there and along comes 'the authorities' and deletes it.
Fred puts out his time creating the notices and makes it easy for members to read them, this thread.

Please try to create a new thread in Swap Meet, For Sale. When a person creates a new thread, the following notice shows up every time.
Please note that your listing MUST INCLUDE A PHOTO of the actual item offered for sale. No stock or commercial photos are allowed.
It is recommended that your callsign appear somewhere in the picture to prevent fraud and the re-use of your photo.
To add a photo, click the Insert Image icon on the toolbar.
I mean "geez" can't you just take the time to read the bright red notice before posting?
Thanks, and please try to enjoy the forum.
