I have found that kids in general are very receptive to, and curious about, ham radio. I'm not sure where the idea came from that kids aren't interested. At my club's Field Day we had several young people stop by and were fascinated with being able to talk on the radio. A little encouragement can go a long way!
Good job Colby! I hope to QSO with you one day on amateur radio. And of course KG4RUL and K4AOC did a great job too, but you'd expect that from a guy named Vince!
Amateur Radio was featured on Colby's Corner TV Show this week. Colby is a 9 year old who visits locations in South Carolina, learing about different things, from Jobs, Sports & Hobbies. We set up a temporary station and got Colby on the air and filmed it for his TV show...
As someone who writes/produces an directs TV in a similar genre though for an older audience demographic, all I can say is "excellent." The youngster chosen to host is perfect and the overall show concept of "learning through exploration" is in keeping with the type of programming that keeps younger viewers watching. And I personally love the paint-on-look graphics. Sure beats the static Chyrons most productions still use. In all, a very well thought out and produced show. Kind of a modern day "Watch Mr. Wizard" in some ways.-- Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF
I sometimes type 'the' as 'teh'. Many times I type letters in reverse. One hand types faster than the other. Anyways, Colby was quick with the follow up questions and they were quality follow up questions. That's a news reporter in the making. You could tell some of the questions were rehearsed but he did a really good job with spontaneous follow up questions.
