Any Ramsey PM50 RF power meter users around?
Hello.
Recently I discovered that device via amazon and liked it for it's advertised features and price. I decided to google for more info, but - no luck. Seems like no hams used it? I'd like to use it to test power loss in various tuners, transformes, etc. I'd like to hear comments from users, if any.

Apparently not.....I didn't even know Ramsey made a watt meter kit until just now. I did look it up but first I went to Amazon to see it there. Couldn't find it. So I went to the Ramsey web site and the PM50 was there. The specifications on it are very good but with a power limitation of 50W it's mostly relegated to those running QRP or VHF/UHF stuff. It's supposed to measure down to a microwatt. Don't know if that's true or not but that's impressive if it is.
Thanks for bringing that item to my attention

Well, sure this hardly usable for amplifier measurements, but will do nicely when you need to measure cable/filter/etc insertion loss.

Yes it does have some very good applications and the fact it can perform at very low power means you can use it as a test fixture kind of like a signal generator output. You could sweep a frequency range and get all kinds of information. Sort of like a very simple antenna analyzer but limited to SWR. Most usually that's what most folks need and there have been some incidences of folks getting an analyzer that gives too much information and they get lost in that data.
Ahhh...the days where you just tossed a piece of wire up, loaded it and worked the world with an antenna that by today's standards would be unacceptable.
Have fun

Maybe, later this month, I'll purchase this meter. I do have VNA, but it is 1-port (AIM-UHF), so they will fill each other nicely.
