Other than that, I don't care.

Sheesh, what a negative and ninny.....This is simply another milestone in the quest to understand the world around us which will help with furthering a myriad of other sciences...

Or find its yet "undiscovered" (at least, unobserved) cousin, the Graviton.
Ohhh.... Now THAT one just makes me all gooshie inside .
Being able to (possibly) "control" gravity? Yeah, baby, NOW we're TALKIN'!
Tom's right, though... For now: "SEND MORE MONEY".
Its OK. Do not worry. We can always make more $$, even by working & creating it Vs just printing it :-)

Swans and Drakes do NOT belong in lakes. Maybe some Heathkits do, depending on who built them .

S'OK, LAZ.
There are some asspects of biology that I will always enjoy more than Physics .
Sorry 'bout the typo.

I'm not negative or a ninny. With all that is going on in this world, this discovery which I'm sure is an orgasmic treat to physicists, does nothing for the population of the world. I'll bet most of the worlds people will hear little of this discovery and the current population of the earth will be dead and buried including babies born today before any benefits (if any) comes of this discovery.
Like I said unless I can get my laser blaster in Walmart next week, this discovery is just that; a discovery that will go nowhere through many future lifetimes.
Well, maybe I am negative. This happens from time to time.

Thanks for not taking offense, LAZ .
And, just for the record, I do not "DO" physics. I read about Physics. I very much enjoy and remain fascinated with Physics, but I do not "DO" physics.
"DOING" Physics is damn hard work. Way, way, way above my pay grade (and skill level).
But it is sure fun to mess around watching the geniuses trying to figure out our world.
Speaking of which, have you been following the deep drilling endeavor off of Japan's coast in yet another attempt to reach the Earth's mantle? The biology tie-in here is that there is speculation that some extremophile life might be possible at such great heat and depth because of the extreme pressure "down there" that keeps water from flashing into steam. Some lower mantle temperature estimates are below upper level extremophile life already observed allowing for a possible "Goldilocks Zone" that just might, possibly, maybe allow some sort of very strange biology to exist in that very weird environment!
Kinda makes me rethink my original skepticism about Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" .

Wasn't meant as a bash to you just a poke in the ribs.
The benefits from this discovery may not be realized in our lifetime but it will lay the groundwork for future discoveries, trust me this is a good thing regardless of it's current cost.

No, I have not been following much of anything as of late since I have been drowning in paperwork ever since arriving in Spain. In fact the paperwork craze actually started thirteen months ago but we dont have the time to discuss all of that. I will have to check it out though, the paperwork is starting to thin out a lot and I am getting "me time back". When it is all finished the first thing on my agenda is to obtain my ham ticket here. =)
(Well, Spanish courses take up some of my time but that is only three days a week so its not really a big deal.)
