I think people need to be working on solutions to their perceived problems. GW does not equal pollution. There have been many posts here that spend time talking about pollution, as if it is the same thing, or fixing it will cure GW.

The acceptable solution would be to come up with a viable alternative energy source that produces the energy we need, without the GW emissions that the GW advocates don't want. Once a relatively inexpensive solution is designed, it could be implemented world wide with little opposition. People that oppose AGW are not necessarily "pro oil" or coal, they just want a decently priced energy option. They see the AGW crowd as a political event, a way to control other people, and transfer money from one set of people to another. There is a lot of truth to this, whether or not AGW has any basis in fact.

Perhaps come up with a machine that can convert CO2 in the air into oxygen and diamonds. These machines could be placed all around the world and run 24/7, reducing the CO2 content, and making high quality diamonds to boot. DeBeers would not be happy, but it could bring down the high price of diamonds, as well as get rid of that CO2. The machines could run off of nuclear power, which doesn't emit any greenhouse gasses.

Design a better battery or a "cold fusion" type of power source, one that is small, yet powerful enough to run a car. The reason electric cars don't catch on is because they have a very short range and take a long time to charge, and they are expensive. Get rid of those drawbacks, and the country will switch without any sort of force, or mandates.

We can argue all year about this, but what it really comes down to is solutions, not forced changes. Solutions that all sides will be happy with, not something one sided and arbitrary.

He has no point just as you don't have one.
At least we see the problems and put them up for discussion, your and his solution is wishing death to members of this forum and fellow hams, that is hypochrisy.
Do you know how i live or how i use resources? no you don't, so you simply cannot judge me.
For someone that comes from a country of just 300 milion people that has after china the most pollution and waste of resources that is a steep conclusion you try to pull, i see your hypochrisy here.

Like Brian said, some need to take their medication, pronto.

What makes those of you so special that you cannot practice what you preach, I would even extend that to those who think they are the ruling class, for they are the biggest hypocrites of all. The only reason there is a ruling class is because we let them think they rule, they don't outnumber us and don't have the power to rule over us without our permission.

Woolly thinking, Sue: bring down the birthrate and overpopulation solves itself in time, no need for euthanasia or mass suicide of the more selfless part of humanity.

It is also necessary to recognise the hypocracy of those who deny a genuine problem because they don't want anything to get in the way of their selfish greed, people prepared to see Hothouse Earth come about as their legacy to the future as long as they don't suffer any inconvenience. What does the good book say about motes and beams?

Oh yes, the rest of us see you, and the future generations will hate you.

I find it somewhat amusing that you seem to be able to predict the future. Future generations may hail us as people who didn't buy into the political hoopla. We simply do not know.

For all we know, GW could be a boon to mankind, not the death knell. This is my whole problem with AGW proponents, they are so sure of the future, and the calamities it will bring.

James Burke made a series called "After the Warming" back in 1989 or so. Find it and watch it, I did. Was a hoot, really. All of the predictions made never came about, not a single one. Scientists for the most part have difficulty predicting the future. My guess for what will be happening 50 years from now is just as good, since we don't know what the future will bring.

Oh do please explain how that is true.
Perhaps the ruling classes of the world should start off by giving up their lifestyle in place of a simpler one.
Starting with your Queen and moving over to the UK next.
Do you know how i live or how i use resources? no you don't, so you simply cannot judge me.
Actually I have a fairly good idea based on your posts here.
You haven't done such a good job of hiding your lifestyle from the public eye.

Your statement on pollution is simply not true.
    Provide credable sources please.
Like Brian said, some need to take their medication, pronto.
Oh I agree starting with the kings and queens, and the elite of the world.
They are the ones who are pushing this and they exempt themselves from the laws they proscribe for the rest of us.

Like I said we let them rule, maybe for not much longer though.

Sue, Do you know how I live, what I've done or do every day? Are you aware of the choices I make or the direction I take in my day to day life? How do you know that most of us here saying we need to change aren't trying hard to change what they do? Are you aware of the work I've done in my home to limit energy use and reuse or recycle resources? All of which as paid for itself several times over by the way and all the technology picked to do it is as clean and "green" as possible at the time of implementation or rework.

I too though have see people who complain at town/neighborhood meetings about the need to "fix" local environmental concerns leave alone in a giant SUV but I don't place everyone who agrees with what they said at the meetings into the group.

I agree your comments on the "ruling class" but I'm not one. Similar arguments can to related to fire arm laws in the US and many other topics also.

Interesting how little credence is given to Peter, who is as close as we have to a bone-fide expert on this matter. I seem to remember a way back there he said that the UN Climate Change Commission (I think thats what its called) was an entirely credible authority.

But going right back to the title of the thread, for them it is a matter of faith & belief, the test of which is; what evidence would convince you that AGW is occuring? If you can conceive of none, I am afraid you are in a faith position, like believers in the tooth fairy, flat earth, and various deities. Thats fine, but don't try to pretend you are open to scientific argument. You are not.
