Be very careful about stuff you buy from this outfit.
    John -

You made a BAD DECISION, and shopped at small store (CB? what else are they selling illegal?).
You have a legitimate amatuer radio dealer, HRO Atlanta in your backyard ... and your shopping there??

They are happy -- they got your $$$, just like the other illegal product sellers (drugs, non-tax cigarettes, Viagra, guns).
They are telling me it must be sent back to Italy for repair.
RM Italy has not applied for FCC approval (spectal purity, IMD, etc.) of HF amplifiers, so they are not legal for sale in US.
RM Italy has NO dealer or distribution network in US (non-existant US support) .... but they keep showing up (maybe with the Olive Oil).
Good luck with that repair and high $$ for shipping it to Italy.

RMI shows H&Y as being their US "distributor." But, it also looks like all warranty repairs are done at the factory.
I'd suspect hams buying the cheap Chinese knockoff rigs on eBay will be in even worse shape when those radios
    start failing.

If that is true, then TenTec is in for a rude surprise:

also note that it can be RF keyed.

As fun as it may be to poke fun at this guy's choice of vendors, the truth is that if he bought ANYTHING from HRO, the story is the same: They have no techs, it goes back to the factory. And I'm not picking on HRO(they're my prefered seller); the same is true of Texas Towers, R&L, and anybody else I can think of. In my opinion the ham "store" is obsolete, and all manufacturers should sell direct, like TenTec. TenTec probably led the way because their service was so good. Of course it had to be, their stuff is always breaking!
