Penn - look for my reply to you over on the HRD forum. In short, no, you do not have to enter the country manually every time. Your Callsign lookup options just need a little tweeking.

Yes Chris, I did see that, thanks very much. Hey, has anyone worked out why HamCall is not working with HRD now? I'm at a loss, I've messed around with it for ages and I just will not work at all. Normally when you put somebody's callsign then that is in the Ham call, all information is automatically migrated into the log, that is not happening now.

Here's me not complaining. Version 5.11 works great here. I've yet to get a more recent version to work as well, but I have not tried 5.23 or 5.24 yet.
Having said that, I still bought version 6.0 and expect to use it once its available. Hoping all the hard work developing the new HRD pays off.
On an unrelated note: Thanks to major rig and antenna engineering, I can now hear everyone I can work. -- K7JBQ

I don't think that I would upgrade just yet.
The code that they are writing has memory problems and it was already to much overhead for many computers. They will have to fix that issue.
If the older version works, then you should use it.
If you do decide to try the upgrade, just make a system Restore Point, before the install, and backup any HRD files that you need to keep.
Enjoy.

Just because HRD works for you on your computer, that doesn't mean that it's working properly for everyone else. Everything is working fine for me, apart from hamcall, I cannot get it to work and I can't figure out why. Have you got the Hamcall disk?

You are lucky.
Let us know how it works on your Win Vista and 7 machine, and report back.

I don't use Hamcall but I assume you have gone into "Callsign Lookup" and enabled "HamCall CD," yes?? You also have to go into "Lookup Options" and tell HRD where the files are located. I did the same using QRZ data copied to my hard drive and it worked just fine. I'm using version 5.23.0.12

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and HRD 5.23 works just fine - no problems I can find. I firmly believe there are some OS problems that are at the root of much of other's problems. When I first upgraded, I had a problem with HRD crashing after running for an hour or so. It did this several times, then I upgraded the OS and has not recurred since then. I typically leave it running several hours a day hooked up to the rig and all is well at the moment!

That is the problem Bob.
After a while it may crash the computer.
Normally it will work great at first.
Freezing when your transmitter is on full power is not a good thing.
Sorry I am such of a for real person.
I test computer code and they may have a way to go.
